A child promises to reach the stars. The person who finally gets there may no longer remember why.

THE DREAM, THE DISTANCE, THE PERSON LEFT BEHIND

Space is a long way
from the garden.

One night, a child sees an impossible green streak cross the sky. He can’t explain it. He only knows what he wants: to go up, to see space, to reach the thing that just passed overhead.

Years later, the promise has been kept at a scale the child could never have imagined. The protagonist has crossed the cosmos and survived for millions of years. He has become an extraordinarily capable machine — and drifted almost beyond recognition from the person who first looked up.

The central question isn’t whether the dream came true. It’s what remains of the dreamer when it does.

THE TITLE, IN FULL

Child Of Terra : Promise To the Cosmos. The word “côté” also suggests a hidden side — a quiet corner of consciousness where an earlier self remains.

The game itself
has a point of view.

COTé:PTC is designed so the controls, missions, warnings, and consequences carry the same questions as the story. The player is part of what happens — not just watching it unfold.

01   /   IMPAIRED CONTROL

The glitch is not a cutscene.

In a cyberpsychosis episode, control is disrupted but not simply removed. Inputs may desynchronize; the protagonist can act unpredictably. If someone gets hurt, the player may have caused it, tried to stop it, or let it happen.

PARTIAL CONTROL   /   SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
02   /   CONSEQUENCE

People change the shape of the world.

A major character’s death can remove a quest, create a new one, change an entire chain of events, or make some futures impossible. Continuing after a warning means living with the world that follows.

03   /   QUIET AS ACTION

Sometimes the move is to stop.

In the Dead Zone of Terra there is no marker, loot, or obvious reward. The player lands, waits, and stays with the silence. The pause becomes part of the mechanic.

04   /   THE INTERFACE

The mission log may be wrong for you.

Objectives and warnings try to preserve the intended route. Multiple endings sit along the expected path; the hidden Finale is a world state the player uncovers by changing how they behave — not a progress bar the game points out.

05   /   THE COST OF WAITING

Inaction can leave a mark, too.

One route toward the Finale asks the player to pause during combat and allow specific damage to build. That damage feeds old glitch static into the protagonist’s cache — a machine’s worn edges becoming a way back to what it buried.

STILLNESS   /   DAMAGE   /   MEMORY

The marker says
keep moving.

Your ship is off course. The interface insists there is only one sensible thing to do. But something in the static sounds familiar.

THE VESSEL

Someone to remember.
Someone to be.

The Vessel first appears tied to the protagonist’s past and to the girl connected with his original promise. As the story opens up, the character also becomes a mirror: a vulnerable younger self, an internal world, a piece of innocence the protagonist couldn’t carry into the machine he became.

“Remember me with love.”

VISUAL & AUDIO LANGUAGE

Emerald in the dark.
Dust-gold at home.

The first strange light is emerald green, bright enough to turn a childhood night into a life’s direction. At the far end of the story, the cosmic scale gives way to a warm, dusty-yellow garden. A small place reappears after an impossibly long way around.

A youthful male choir is imagined as a sonic ghost — the sound of innocence following something that has become almost inhuman. The music carries the younger self through each transformation.

A dream can be
kept and lost.

IN CONVERSATION WITH OTHER WORLDS

The project studies how other stories handle player choice, technological transformation, hidden routes, time, and identity. Those ideas are starting points to understand and recombine into something with its own center of gravity.

The heart of the story turns its first mystery inside out. Open this only if you want the major temporal reveal.

Reveal the closed-loop twist

The green phenomenon was not an alien signal or an outside destiny. The future protagonist, after roughly three million years of existence, reaches backward through time and becomes the light and voice that set his childhood dream in motion.

The promise first appears to be about a girl whose fate stays uncertain. The story eventually turns that remembered goodbye toward the person who made the promise: the child the protagonist used to be.

Future causes past, past creates future: a closed loop with no first cause. In the Finale, the starship’s world falls away and the story returns to the garden. The Vessel recognizes the child the protagonist used to be — and whispers the word that began everything: “Up.”

WHERE IT STANDS

Still becoming.

COTé:PTC is a concept in active refinement, not a finished game or locked production script. Its ideas can still change. The current work is about understanding the project’s influences, finding what they mean together, and letting a coherent design emerge.
